Facebook shares new image compression technology on GitHub

To solve this problem, Facebook recently released a new image compression technology called Spectrum, which can help upload images faster as open source. This technology promises to help mobile device manufacturers address the need for image compression.

Spectrum is developed on an open source platform so it can be integrated into iOS and Android projects. This means that users can catch it on non-Facebook applications.

Spectrum promises to help application developers save program writing time. According to information from Facebook, the Spectrum is capable of reducing file sizes up to 15% while maintaining their image quality.
