Elon Musk sues Apple and OpenAI for ChatGPT bias
Elon Musk's xAI company has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI in Texas. Musk accuses Apple and OpenAI of colluding to stifle competition in the AI industry.
According to the lawsuit, Apple and OpenAI are accused of engaging in monopolistic practices by deeply integrating ChatGPT into the iPhone, thereby giving ChatGPT a huge advantage over other apps like xAI's Grok.
Apple and OpenAI have 'locked up the market to maintain their monopoly and prevent innovators like X and xAI from competing,' the lawsuit states.
Additionally, Musk claimed that Apple removed xAI's Grok app from featured sections in the App Store, such as 'Recommended Apps.' He stressed: ' Without the exclusive deal with OpenAI, Apple would have no reason not to feature the X and Grok apps more prominently in the App Store. '
On the X platform, Musk shared: ' A million reviews with an average score of 4.9 for @Grok, but Apple still refuses to mention Grok in any listings. ' Previously, Musk had accused Apple of bias towards OpenAI and called for immediate legal action.
Musk is now seeking billions of dollars in damages and urging the court to block the anti-competitive partnership.
OpenAI responded: ' This latest lawsuit is consistent with Mr. Musk's usual character. ' Apple has not commented publicly, but has previously said that ' the App Store is designed to be fair and unbiased. '
