The Google Play Store removed the CamScanner PDF application running Android operating system by CC Intelligence Corporation in China after discovering that it recently spread a malicious virus.
According to information from ZDNet on August 28, Google Play Store removed CamScanner PDF application running Android operating system of CC Intelligence company in China after discovering that this application recently spread a malicious virus. This PDF scanning application was launched in 2010 and has been downloaded over 100 million times.
According to Russian antivirus technology firm Kaspersky, a new ad library containing malicious code capable of spreading malicious viruses to Android devices was discovered to exist in the new versions of CamScanner PDF. This malware can automatically register users for paid content and automatically enable annoying ads.
When Android devices install this app, the malicious virus will connect to the attacker's server, then silently download additional malware and deploy it.
Immediately after receiving notice of malicious viruses in CamScanner PDF, Google immediately removed this application from the Google Play Store. However, the iOS version of this app is still available in the Apple Store.
