Besides Windows 11, Microsoft will also launch Windows 11 SE?
While the next generation of Windows 11 has been talked about a lot these days, some users have also discovered Windows 11 SE.
Twitter user @fakirmitation shared a screenshot of Windows 11 SE Dev Build 21996.1, and said that this "version" (or perhaps a mode) of the operating system is "pretty restrictive on settings" and requires an online account to work.
However, nothing is certain at this point as all information is still just a rumor. User @fakirmitation shared, Microsoft Store seems to be blocked by default on Windows 11 SE, which is curious because Microsoft usually only allows Store apps to run on this operating system.
On the other hand, win32 apps are working fine on SE. XDA also confirmed the detection of some missing settings in the Windows 11 SE SKU, including phone and search settings.
At this point, everything is based on rumors and leaked screenshots. Microsoft will most likely change things up, but in its current format, Windows 11 SE looks like something businesses can use to restrict their employees to certain apps. Whatever the final format may be, one thing is clear: Microsoft is definitely not passing on S Mode!
We'll know more about exactly how Windows 11 and possibly this SE 'version' works very soon at Microsoft's event on June 24.
