The Animoji is currently an exclusive feature on the iPhone X, because the feature uses new sensors and is only available on the iPhone X's Face ID. Animoji will use TrueDepth front camera, combined with Face ID and 3D sensor features to identify the entire expression on your face.

Currently users can use Animoji in iMessage and only in iMessage to record face action and send it to friends. The characters available on the system will mimic your voice about face gestures, making messages much more lively.
How to start Animoji
First open the message and click on the Animoji button and select Record. Next, express the facial expression to Animoji to record. Click Stop to stop recording, press Delete to delete the recording and press Send to send the message if you want.
