Android collects user data even when the device is not used 50 times more than iOS
A new study by Professor Douglas Schmidt at Vanderbilt University found that when in free mode (not working) Android devices collect user data 10 times more than iOS devices.
According to the research results, within 24 hours an Android smartphone installed Chrome background browser sends location data to Google 340 times, equivalent to about 14 times per hour. This number is nearly 50 times the speed of sending data on an iPhone to the Safari browser. Apple's Safari browser doesn't send much data to Google unless the user is using the iPhone continuously.
The important thing in this research is that Google crawls even if the user does not directly use the device.
There are currently more than 2 billion users in the world using devices running Android, so the amount of data Google collects is huge. From the data collected from Android devices, Google can compare and connect them with anonymous data to create complete and accurate user profiles. Currently Google relies on collecting user data to serve advertising goals.
