6 reasons why many people regret buying Nintendo Switch
Here are some reasons why many people regret buying a Switch.
1. Nintendo exclusive games are repetitive
The old Animal Crossing, Mario, Zelda and Ace Attorney games are played a lot. Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Bros. Wonder feels like a clone of the older versions. There haven't been many interesting and unique Nintendo titles worthy of the high price tag of $60 to $70.
A significant portion of the Switch's games are also reboots or remakes of older titles, so the lack of novelty is a major drawback.
2. No strong Trophy system
A favorite aspect of gaming is collecting trophies. When they got the PlayStation 5, many people started looking through all the trophies for games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Resident Evil 4 Remake or tracking their progress in the game through their PlayStation account.
The Switch doesn't have a large trophy system that easily displays progress through games, which is another reason why many people don't play it much.
3. Similar games can be found on other platforms
Many games available on Switch are also available on other platforms. For example, despite owning Stardew Valley on Steam, many people still want to play it in handheld mode.
There are even people who have never touched a game on Switch after buying it many years ago. Since they already have a file saved on their PC, they don't want to start a completely new farm. Additionally, PC and PlayStation offer even more perks. The Epic Games Store continuously gives away free games, and the entire catalog of games can be accessed by subscribing to PS Plus.
Nintendo Switch games are often more expensive than PC games, making them less appealing.
4. Poor performance
When participating in online multiplayer games like Fortnite and Smite, many people have tried playing these games on their Switch. Fortnite's field of view is so small on a handheld that playing is impossible, and controlling on Joy-Cons causes discomfort and headaches.
Smite lags to the point of being unplayable, the game constantly crashes and causes players to "die" or miss important shots. By contrast, playing Fortnite and Smite on PlayStation are seamless experiences.

5. Nintendo Switch is no longer the only handheld available
When purchasing a Switch in 2020, the handheld aspect of the Switch was relatively novel. Now, there are plenty of alternatives, including Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, and Logitech G Cloud. Additionally, you can stream PlayStation games to your Mac via PS Remote Play while traveling.

6. Nintendo Switch doesn't alleviate Wii nostalgia
As a child, the Nintendo Wii was the first video game console that many people fell in love with. People spend hours playing games like Nancy Drew, Guitar Hero, Wario Land: Shake It, Wii Sports, and GameCube games like Sonic Adventure 2.
They also liked how the Wii Remote became a pointer for most games, instead of just a gamepad with buttons to use. The Switch doesn't alleviate the nostalgia for the Wii.
The Switch will only hold a player's attention for about 15 to 30 minutes and regret buying many games, including the new Animal Crossing game, because they are repetitive and boring.
