You choose a tablet or netbook?
For office users, the tablet is like a large smartphone but still more portable, while netbooks can help them run professional applications from Windows.
While 2011 was considered to be the year of tablets, netbooks began to gradually decline in recent sales and number of models.
However, choosing a netbook or tablet is still a difficult question for office users because both are holding their own advantages.
Design
Both netbooks and tablets are compact computer models with convenient weight and size for travel. In terms of size, both products own screens from 7 to 10 inches. However, with a hard keyboard attached, the netbook's design will make many people mistakenly think their screens are "smaller" than tablets.
In terms of weight, each netbook is from 900g to 1.4kg, much heavier than an average tablet. However this is not a big distance. Both are still mobile devices for people who travel and go on business.
Hardware
Netbooks have a relatively low configuration but are still much better than tablets. As a tablet, office users can hardly type text ' shorthand ' like on a laptop or desktop computer. Usually they can only type ' pecking ' because the touch keys are quite small and seamless of a tablet.
Moreover, due to the slim and light design, there is still no important tablet connected USB 2.0 (the new tablet only has micro USB port). Others lack HDMI ports, so many users will find it difficult to bring tablets into presentations.
With netbooks, it's completely different. This is really a copy of the laptop. Netbooks are more suitable for those who have to write an email or a presentation thanks to a built-in physical keyboard and support almost all connections like an authentic laptop.
Software and applications
Most tablets, except for the iPad series, run on Android, one of the flexible and customizable operating systems. It is also a platform that is actively provided by the active community of new applications and also means that users will have thousands of applications to choose from.
However, Windows-based netbooks now have a long history of development and offer vastly more options. Moreover, Windows is still the most popular operating system worldwide with its office-familiar software suite and countless applications for office work.
Storage capacity
The tablets use flash storage, faster and safer than magnetic disks on traditional hard drives on netbooks.
However, storage capacity is a problem for the tablet itself, since most models now have only the largest capacity of 64GB, while the popular netbook has about 250GB hard drive.
In addition, only a handful of tablet models feature SD memory card slots (most use microSD cards instead) and even a few have USB ports. Therefore the expansion of external storage capacity is almost very little for a tablet.
Battery life
Like smartphone models, the tablet rarely turns off completely but is only put into standby mode to save battery power. This makes the device able to return to the working state almost immediately. Tablets can receive, send email or text messages 24 hours a day. Battery life is also much better than netbooks with about 10 hours of continuous use.
Product price
The price of a netbook is much lower than a tablet. Currently a netbook model in Vietnam costs about VND 6-7 million. Meanwhile, the first iPad version also costs at least more than VND 10 million, to low-cost models but not as high stability as Archos also cost about VND 8 million.
The explanation for this lies in the " hot " level of the two products. While Apple and colleagues are storming the tech market, netbooks are shrinking. It must also be added to the difficulty in the production process to create a price difference.
Conclude
If users often travel and always check email, browse the web or play social networks, tablets are a great choice. However, netbooks provide more flexible and professional utilities and office applications.
