Why does cleaning the house smell fishy?

There are many reasons why a fishy smell appears when cleaning the house.

Water quality is not guaranteed

The quality of water used to clean the house is not clean and contains many organic impurities and bacteria, which is one of the main causes of fishy and unpleasant odors when used.

Dirty cleaning tools

If mops and rags are not cleaned thoroughly after each use, leaving them damp can become a place for bacteria and mold to accumulate. When using these tools again, bacteria and unpleasant odors will spread to the floor.

Change the water less often

If you do not change the cleaning water regularly, dirt, bacteria and waste accumulated in the cleaning water will stick to the floor and create an unpleasant odor.

Using unsuitable detergents

Some detergents, if not used properly, such as by diluting the detergent in the wrong ratio or using too much, can cause unpleasant odors.

Additionally, poor quality or inappropriate cleaning products may not be able to remove odors, and may even create a more unpleasant odor.

The floor is dirty

Floors that have accumulated dirt, grease, food or other organic substances over a long period of time, if not cleaned thoroughly, can cause these substances to decompose and give off a fishy odor.

Humid environments are ideal conditions for bacteria and mold to grow, leading to unpleasant odors.

The gaps between tiles after a period of use can become moldy when exposed to water and produce an unpleasant odor.

How to overcome the fishy smell when cleaning the house

1. Use water from a hygienic source, such as treated tap water or filtered water.
2. Change cleaning fluid regularly during cleaning.
3. Clean and store cleaning tools after each use. Rags and mops should be washed and dried.
4. Periodically wash cleaning tools with hot water and antibacterial detergents.
5. Choose the appropriate detergent and use it according to the manufacturer's instructions to clean the floor.
6. The floor should be cleaned regularly, especially in areas prone to dirt such as the gaps between tiles, the kitchen and dining room to remove odors.
7. Make sure your home space is always ventilated, open windows or use fans to increase air circulation.
