Tips for catching Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Run fast

In the Hisui region, Pokémon not only attack each other, they also attack the player. Wild creatures will spew fire and lunge at characters in real time.

Players can recharge their health if they avoid taking damage for a few seconds, but gangs of Pokémon can still quickly attack again. So, if you find yourself facing an insurmountable enemy, run fast, feel free to use the new dodging mechanics that need to be mastered to pull off some boss fights.

Throw the Poke Ball quickly and carefully

Similar to Pokemon Go, Pokémon Legends: Arceus does not require the player to fight and weaken a Pokémon to capture it.

Gamers just need to crouch, stalk a cranky Pikachu and throw a Poke Ball from behind the bushes.

To do that, the player must be aware of his surroundings. If the Pokemon notices the character and becomes too agitated, everyone will have to fight to catch them.

Carefully calculate the Poke Ball's physical properties when aiming and throwing. Some balls fly farther, while there are better performing ones up close.

Help other players

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is mostly a single-player experience. People won't be fighting online with other real-life gamers like in a traditional Pokémon game.

However, an online social mechanism similar to Dark Souls, adds a shared sense of community to the experience of playing Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

When the character dies, they will leave a bag full of items. If you find that bag on the map, return the items to the player who owns it and earn Merit Points for yourself. Use these points to buy rare items, especially those that help Pokémon evolve.

Instructions to catch Pokémon without fighting

Sure, people can fight Pokémon that degrade their health to catch, but if you want to avoid that, try these steps:

1. Stealth Pokémon by crouching and hiding behind nearby objects or in tall grass.
2. Throw a berry (whichever has the most) in front of the Pokémon. It's better if the player has the Pokémon's favorite food, but not necessarily.
3. After it's finished eating, throw the other berry a little further in front of the Pokémon so its back is facing you.
4. While its back is facing the player, slowly approach the Pokémon and throw a Heavy Ball at its back.
5. While throwing the Heavy Ball, run back to your hiding place.
6. If unsuccessful, repeat from step 2 again.

The player can successfully catch most Pokémon, even Alpha Pokémon, with this method. In some areas that don't have good hiding spots, especially around Pokémon Alpha, gamers should spend some time learning this method a bit more.

If a Pokémon detects and rushes to the character, people can either fight it or run away. If you run far enough, the Pokémon's sticking point on the character will drop and everyone can start the process again.
