Games to Try After PUBG: Battle Royale and Other Options

Compare Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warzone, Free Fire and Delta Force by playstyle, plus Dota 2 for a different kind of team competition.

Table of Contents

If you want a change from PUBG, start with what you want to keep: last-team-standing matches, tactical shooting, squad coordination or competitive teamwork. Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warzone and Free Fire offer battle royale experiences. Delta Force offers other military-shooter modes, while Dota 2 is a different genre altogether.

These games are just as good as PUBG. Picture 1

Choose by the current edition available on your device, rather than old download lists or player-count claims. A game's free entry point does not mean every cosmetic, pass or related mode is free.

Delta Force: military combat beyond battle royale

Delta Force, developed by Team Jade, is a choice for players who enjoy military shooting but want a different match structure. Garena distributes its regional edition. Warfare emphasizes large team battles and vehicles; Operations uses an extraction format in which you gather resources and try to leave safely.

These are different goals from being the final surviving squad in PUBG. Choose Warfare for objective-based battles or Operations for the tension of protecting a loadout and deciding when to extract. Check the publisher, region and platform when installing; regional editions and shared codes are not automatically interchangeable.

Fortnite: battle royale with or without building

Fortnite Battle Royale adds building to the familiar loop of landing, finding equipment and surviving a shrinking safe area. Its colorful presentation and changing map content create a different tone from PUBG.

If building is the part you do not want, choose Zero Build. Epic describes it as battle royale without the building mechanic. That makes it a useful starting point for a player who wants to focus on movement, positioning and shooting. TipsMake's Fortnite basics guide covers the core survival loop; check Epic's current instructions for installation.

Apex Legends: squad roles and movement

Apex Legends combines battle royale with characters who have distinct abilities. Team composition, communication and movement matter alongside aim, so it suits players who enjoy coordinating roles within a squad.

Its pace and ability systems differ from PUBG's more grounded shooting. Allow time to learn a small selection of characters instead of changing your role every match. The separate Apex Legends Mobile service was discontinued; old Android or iOS download suggestions should not be used as evidence that it remains playable.

Call of Duty: Warzone: a different combat rhythm

Warzone is a battle royale option for players who enjoy Call of Duty's shooting and movement. Match rules can include routes back into play and spending in-match cash, so checking the active playlist is important before comparing it with PUBG.

Evaluate the current PC or console game and its requirements. Warzone Mobile is no longer a playable alternative: Activision scheduled its servers to go offline on April 17, 2026. See the official service-change notice.

Garena Free Fire: a mobile-focused choice

Free Fire is a mobile battle royale to consider if you want a different touch-control experience and relatively compact matches. Test it on your own phone rather than assuming it will run smoothly on every older device.

Comfortable controls and consistent aiming matter more than copying a supposed universal headshot preset. Start with Free Fire tips for beginners, then use the sensitivity setup guide as a starting point to calibrate your device.

Dota 2: an option if you want a different genre

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena, not a battle royale shooter. Teams use heroes, items and map objectives to work toward destroying the opposing base.

It belongs on a broader list of competitive games to try after PUBG, rather than a list of games with similar shooting. Consider it if you want strategic team roles and are willing to learn a new set of mechanics.

Choose by the experience you want

  • A familiar survival objective: start with Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warzone or Free Fire.
  • Large military battles or extraction: evaluate Delta Force.
  • A change from shooting to hero strategy: try Dota 2.

Before inviting your squad, confirm current platform support, regional availability, cross-play rules and hardware requirements for the specific edition. Those details are more useful than an unsupported claim that one game is universally better or more popular than PUBG.
