The risk of being 'reverse tracked', revealing a private image from a security camera
Installation of security cameras but due to lack of information security knowledge, many homeowners did not expect their camera administrator account to be accessed and "tracked back", even tossed naked clips online.
When installing cameras, many users leave the company to provide equipment and installation services. They just turn on the smartphone, open the camera monitoring application remotely without knowing anything about the management account or the camera access password. Even for convenience, they do not set a password or ask the installer to set a password that is easy to remember without changing.
According to a survey of network security company Bkav in 2016, in Vietnam there are 76% of ip cameras to leave the manufacturer's default password, enabling bad guys to infiltrate.
Bad guys or installers who have bad intentions can take advantage of this loophole to track back homeowners for bad purposes such as trespassing private lives, blackmailing, tracking habits to conduct robbery . This can cause themselves and their families to be watched over instead of trying to ensure security for themselves and their families.
According to Ngo Tran Vu, director of NTS Security Company, users must be aware of security cameras such as bank accounts containing their assets, change passwords and keep them secret from the time of installation. In particular, to ensure safety, users should change the password (with enough difficulty) at least once every three months.
Mr. Vu warned: "The money in the bank account is lost, but the images of private activities being released on the Internet are difficult to erase."
Users should choose to buy a brand-name security camera with clear origin. Absolutely not choose cheap, floating cameras on the market because they are very easy to penetrate. Even, many camera products are badly installed by bad guys in the source code of the device (firmware) before being released to the market so it is easy to penetrate and control the camera without a password.
