The number of touch-screen laptops increased sharply in the first quarter
IHS market research firm Displaybank has just released their statistical results, indicating that 46 million laptops were sold in the first quarter of 2013.
Of these, 4.57 million notebooks are in touch-screen categories.
That means 'touch' notebooks have accounted for about 10% of the total number of notebooks shipped, up 51.8% from the fourth quarter of last year.
This is definitely positive news for Microsoft and Windows 8 , as the new platform is enhanced for touch-screen notebooks.
Displaybank said it was impressed with the rapid growth of touch notebooks, but there are still problems with Microsoft because analysts are waiting to see if the company's new platform and touch notebook model have Can PC makers get out of the current recession .
