The first aid procedure Heimlich had when he got a heterozygous object
Suffocation! Occurs when the object gets stuck in the throat or the windpipe is blocked from ventilation, you need to know Heimlich first aid procedure to be able to save yourself and save family members.
Heimlich first aid procedure ( abdomen push ) is an emergency procedure when foreign objects get into the airway and nearly fill the airway area within seconds. Heimlich's principle is to create a strong and sudden force in the lungs by flapping from the back or pressing against the diaphragm to create a sudden pressure in the respiratory tract, pushing the object out. Initially suffocating often makes us surprised and if handled promptly by the knowledge learned can save someone's life. Read Heimlich first aid method following these simple steps:
1. Determine if the victim is suffocated
Suffocated victims often put their hands on their necks and faces expressing panic and despair. They will find it difficult to breathe or unable to speak as if they are completely blocked by the airway ( air cannot enter the lungs ). This means that victims cannot answer when you ask if they are okay or need help, they can only nod. Causes of choking can be caused by food, hurt by swollen or severe allergic reactions. Here are the common symptoms of complete airway obstruction:
- Not breathing or breathing hard
- Can't talk or speak unclear
- Noisy breathing
- Do not cough hard
- Nails and lips turned blue or dark brown, pale gray faces due to lack of oxygen
- Grasp your throat with both hands ( a common sign when choking )
- Do not awake
2. Immediately reassure the victim that you have helped
You can ask for emergency help after trying to help the victim. If there are many people around, ask them to help support the victim.
3. Hold the victim in a standing position
You can also do this in a sitting position if the victim is too heavy or in a narrow space like an airplane. Be sure to have a wide range to implement this method's movement.
4. Do not blow before executing the Heimlich method
Although it is highly recommended in some first aid classes, it is often the cause of foreign objects drifting down the windpipe.
5. Stand behind the victim
If the victim faints or is not alert, stand in a two-legged form to create a " three-legged " chair that helps you perform smoothly and smoothly so that the object quickly falls out.
- Stand behind the victim. Put your arms around the victim's stomach ( stomach) .
- Grab your right wrist with your left hand. Place your thumb in the victim's stomach position.
- Place your left hand right above the navel position and under the victim's sternum.
- Hold your right wrist with your left hand. Avoid putting your thumb straight into the victim's body, causing injury to the victim.
6. Implement the Heimlich method, another name for abdomen
- Using force to pull the victim hard from the bottom up, press hard on the victim's abdomen and push quickly. Perform a "J" shaped body movement - then pull up again.
- Make quick and strong pushes as if you are trying to lift the victim up in this position.
- Perform continuous abdominal push. Repeat until the object drops out. The victim will cough when the object is blocked in the airway if the movement is successful.
- Use less energy if the victim is a child.
- If the victim is unconscious, stop the abdomen immediately. Note that this can happen when the object is not able to be released.
7. Check again if the victim breathes normally
As soon as the object comes out of the airway, people can breathe normally again. If you are not breathing normally, continue to perform abdominal thrust.
8. Call support immediately if you can't help the object get out of the victim's throat
If the victim loses consciousness, stop pushing the abdomen:
- Call emergency services right away. Request immediate assistance. Many people will do this to save time.
- Find ways to clear the victim's airway (check your mouth and look closely to see if you can dislodge the object) and artificial respiration (CPR).
- Continuous observation of victims. Because their life is threatened and can stop breathing at any time. Continue to do CPR to prolong their life.
