Squirrel 'heart pounding' upon seeing wolves, received the First Prize of the Wildlife Photography Competition 2019
The first prize in the Wildlife Photography Contest 2019 found the 'owner' which was a 'Moment' photo, taken by Chinese photographer Yongqing Bao. The picture perfectly captures a startled squirrel when he encounters a wolf, from the pose to the squirrel's facial expression during the moment of danger.
In 2019, more than 48,000 photos from the Wildlife Photography Contest were sent from more than 100 countries around the world. Here are the pictures that won the top prize in the contest.
"Glow in the night"
The photo, taken by Cruz Erdmann, New Zealand, won the first prize in the category for 11- to 14-year-old photographers.
'Cheated face'
The photo was taken by Indian photographer Ripan Biswas, who won the first prize in the animal portrait category.
"Get up early"
Riccardo Marchgiani, Italy made this photo and it was awarded to the category for 15 - 17 year old photographers.
"Birds suck honey"
The photo was awarded the first prize for the award category for photographers under 10 years of age, by Thomas Easterbrook.
'Nomads on the snow'
This photo was awarded the first prize for the animal and environmental category, by photographer Shangzhen Fan, China.
"Architecture of an army"
A photo of a weaver ant taken by photographer Daniel Kronauer, USA, won the award for mollusks.
'The world in the lake'
Manuel Plaickner, photographer from Italy won the category of amphibians and reptiles.
'Landing eagle'
The bird award was given to photographer Audun Rikardsen, Norway.
"Painting of life"
Photo of Zorica Kovacevic, USA won the botanical and mushroom award.
"Eel forest"
The award for aquatic animals was awarded to the "Eel Forest" photo by David Doubilet, USA.
"The battle of strength"
The great moment was taken by Ingo Arndt, Germany. The photo won the mammal category.
"Mice"
Photo of winning an animal category in the city of Charlie Hamilton James, UK.
"Construction"
The photo was taken by Vilariño Lopez, Spain, who won the award in the environmental category.
"One imprisoned"
The first prize in the journalism photography category was awarded to Alejandro Prieto, Mexico, with the photo "One imprisoned".
"Time to act"
The picture was taken by Jasper Doest, Netherlands, winning the storytelling award.
"Painting of the snow"
Photos of Max Waugh, USA won in black and white photo category.
"Icy moment"
Jérémie Villet, France with "Ice Moment" won an award in the category for emerging stars.
"Flock of birds"
The award for the impressive photo album of the year goes to Stefan Christmann, Germany for "Bird".
