Previously, South Korean police had discovered unauthorized camera installations in the hotel and sneaked in, but it was the first time that the recordings were streamed directly to the Internet.

Two men have been arrested and police are investigating a couple involved in the scandal. According to a police investigation, there are no signs that hotels are complicit in the incident.

Compression shooting is one of the most painful social problems in Korea. In 2012, police recorded 2,400 sneaks, but this number soared to more than 6,400 cases in 2017.

Last year, the Korean government had to deploy a team to test more than 20,000 public toilets in Seoul after a demonstration of thousands of women demanding strong government protection for them.
