Samsung stops supporting updates for 11 smartphones

While many are eagerly awaiting the new Galaxy S25 models, 11 Galaxy smartphone models are also being discontinued.

Samsung started the new year with a big event when it launched the Galaxy S25 smartphone line. However, the company also announced that it would stop supporting software for 11 older Galaxy smartphone models. This means that smartphone users need to pay attention to safety issues during use.

Galaxy S20 is no longer supported by Samsung for updates.

The list of 11 Galaxy smartphone models that are no longer supported by Samsung from now on includes Galaxy A02s, Galaxy A12, Galaxy S20 FE 5G, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20+ 5G, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20, and Galaxy W21 5G.

The Galaxy S20 series is the most affected group. The reason is that when it was launched, Samsung did not apply the current 7-year software update policy. Although it will no longer receive Android operating system and One UI interface updates, these smartphone models will still receive security patches.

The end of support raises security issues that users need to be aware of.

Currently, Samsung is considered one of the brands with the best software update policy for smartphones. Many new generation devices have benefited from the 7-year update policy, not only limited to high-end models. Even some mid-range Galaxy smartphones with affordable prices also benefit from this policy. Typically, the Galaxy A16 model is currently being sold for about 5.9 million VND in Vietnam.
