Samsung released an update to improve photography for the Galaxy S20
Samsung has just released a software update for the Galaxy S20 series to further improve its camera performance, just weeks after the company released the May security patch for the device.
According to Neowin , this new 'ATE6' update applies to both the Exynos and Snapdragon variants of the Galaxy S20. The update is available in Korea and parts of Europe. It has helped improve the autofocus speed on the Galaxy S20 Ultra. In addition, it now allows the main 108 MP camera on the device to focus on objects close to 10 cm and to capture images without blurring.
A new Zoom feature has been added as part of this update. Other changes reported in the update (439 MB capacity) include improved sound quality from the speakers, faster fingerprint recognition and improved night-time image quality.
As is well known, despite the promising camera hardware, the performance of the Galaxy S20 series is still lower than expected. In particular, the Galaxy S20 Ultra suffers from major autofocus issues and its low-light photography performance is still not as good as the iPhone 11 Pro, despite the larger camera sensor. After that, Samsung released many software updates to fix camera problems, but the company still had to do a lot of work for this issue.
Based on data from Samsung, the software update will be available via OTA protocol next week or longer in most markets around the world. Users can also use the company's Smart Switch app for computers to download the latest updates for their devices instead of waiting through OTA.
