ROG Phone 5 review: bunker design, many special features

ROG Phone 5 is one of the smartphones with a unique and aggressive appearance on the market. As a product line aimed at gaming users, the machine is quite large in size and heavy in weight. In return, the edges are evenly curved, providing a comfortable grip.

The glass back of the machine features diagonal cuts and the ROG logo can glow and change color. The drawback is that this glass back is very glossy, clinging to a lot of dust and fingerprints during use. 

The screen of the device has a size of 6.78 inches, using AMOLED panels and the ability to display one billion colors. This is also one of the few smartphones equipped with a 144 Hz refresh rate screen, providing very smooth images for supported games. Even when used with common tasks such as surfing the web, the high-frequency screen provides a more pleasing experience to the eyes. Besides, the device is also equipped with an optical fingerprint sensor under the screen, for fast identification speed.

The camera cluster of the machine is designed to be significantly more compact than many other devices on the market, but still has the unique characteristics of the ROG product line. This camera system includes a 64 MP main lens, 13 MP ultra-wide angle lens and 5 MP macro lens. The selfie camera has a resolution of 24 MP.

The quality of photos taken from this camera cluster is just average. In bright enough conditions, images taken from the main camera give fresh colors, but the details are not high. This weakness is more evident when taking photos in low light conditions, the image is flat, the details are much reduced. Overall, the camera is not the strong point of this model.

ROG Phone 5 is one of the first smartphones equipped with Snapdragon 888 chip, 16 GB RAM capacity and 256 GB internal memory. The plus point of this model is the very efficient cooling system. Therefore, even playing games for a long time, the performance of the device will not be affected.

Similar to its predecessor, ROG Phone 5 is also integrated with 2 more touch buttons located on the side, allowing game players to emulate more buttons. The battery equipped with the device has a capacity of 6,000 mAh, integrated with 65W fast charging.
