An archaeologist in the group said the boat was about 10 meters long and was found in a state of loss on one side. It was like a canoe, weighing about 1,000 pounds, probably the largest canoe found, before that, there was also an ancient boat found intact in North America.

It is known that excavation was conducted near the town of Belcher, after which the canoe was taken to the river embankment.

According to information from the archaeological team, this can be taken to Texas A&M University, where it can continue to preserve and restore this boat shape for 1 to 2 years. After that, it will be exhibited.

This prehistoric canoe is said to be 800 to 1000 years old and it could be the Indian Caddo people who settled down along the Red River and the tributaries found by a woman seeking artifacts along the banks of the Red River. saw and was one of only four people to be present at the excavation scene.

Previously, there was a double boat of Indian Caddo people, smaller than this new one that was found along the Red River in the 1980s.

And finally, near this area there used to be a sheep cypress fossil, thought to have been planted from 1005 to 1065, that was excavated, preserved and brought to display at the Louisiana National Exhibition Museum in Shreveport. .
