At 22:30 on January 4, the executive board of the AAG international fiber optic cable said that the broken fiber cable has been re-welded, the flow has been completely restored. At the same time, the final repair steps were completed on the night of January 5.
Before that, in the afternoon of December 20, 2013, AAG cable segment in Vung Tau - Hong Kong ( about 278 km from Vung Tau shore station ) suddenly broke, causing 60% of Vietnam's Internet traffic to be affected. During the troubleshooting period, the speed of access to the network, especially international sites, was slow, causing many people to be annoyed. Network operators such as FPT Telecom have used a land line cable to relay a shortage of AAG traffic to minimize the impact on customers.
Thus, after more than 2 weeks of welding, repairing and breaking the fiber optic cable, it was recovered faster than originally expected.
Fiber optic breakdowns cause the exchange of information abroad by customers on services such as web, e-mail, voice, video . affected by the flow of traffic to redundant directions is likely to be blocked. However, no network provider has offered to support the customer due to the force majeure incident.
