Vendors reveal some new models that will hit the market this year. The low cost of netbooks will continue to boost sales, analysts say.
Asus - the pioneering PC manufacturer of the netbook segment - introduced two new models at Computex 2011, the Asus Eee PC 1025C :
and Asus Eee PC 1025CE :
These are Windows netbooks that will launch worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2011. Priced at $ 299, devices built with "instant on" feature allow Windows users to "wake up" in 2 seconds from sleep mode.
Another Asus netbook also caught the attention of the Eee PC X101 , which runs Intel's MeeGo mobile operating system. The device will be available worldwide in July 2011 and will cost $ 199. Asus will also release Windows 7 version of this netbook, which will cost between 240 USD - 250 USD.
Acer - rival of Asus - is also introducing a netbook for just $ 199. The Aspire One Happy netbook installs both Windows and Android 2.3. Users can switch between operating systems by restarting the system. Acer launched a worldwide version of the device last month.
Lenovo, Samsung, Fujitsu also showcased many other netbooks running Intel's MeeGo OS.
