Microsoft has retired Cortana, a mobile assistant, in January 2020
According to a recent Microsoft document, the tech giant will kill Cortana on iOS and Android in important markets in January 2020.
Accordingly, the Cortana mobile application will disappear at least in the UK, Canada and Australia in January 2020, other markets including Germany, Mexico, China, Spain and India from the 31st. / 1/2020.
A Microsoft spokesperson said that they are integrating Cortana deeper into the Microsoft 365 work application. This is the reason why they end support for the Cortana application.
Currently, Cortana is still supported in the US, but it is unclear how much longer this Cortana app will work on iOS and Android after January 31, 2020.
The new Microsoft document also reveals that, after January 31, 2020, Cortana will continue to disappear from Microsoft's Android Launcher application in the above markets.
Cortana has been introduced on Android and iOS since 2015 to connect Windows 10 computers to smartphones. However, Cortana is not strong enough to compete with other digital assistants on mobile and other areas such as Alexa and Google Assistant despite being redesigned.
Microsoft is currently focusing on integrating Cortana into parts of Microsoft 365 to help users increase productivity. In addition, Cortana is also being integrated directly into Outlook for iOS and Android, supporting email reading for users on the go.
