Microsoft adds macOS-like hardware indicators to Windows 11
Microsoft has just released redesigned flyout hardware indicators (akin to macOS and iOS) for Windows 11. The new design of these flyouts more closely match the overall design of Windows 11.
Currently, only users participating in the Windows 11 beta through the Windows Insider program on the Dev Channel will be able to try the new flyouts.
The new flyout design is something users have been asking for for a long time. However, some users argue that the new design does not work well on Windows devices with touch screens and does not match the design introduced in the Control Panel.
"We've updated the flyout design for hardware indicators for brightness, volume, camera privacy, camera on/off, and airplane mode to align with Windows 11 design principles." , Amanda Langowski and Brandon LeBlanc of Microsoft shared.
"New flyouts will appear when you press the volume or brightness change key on your laptop and will apply light/dark mode for a more coherent Windows experience."
The Windows Insider team further shared that the volume and brightness indicators will still be interactive after installing the new release for the Dev Channel, Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22533.
This week, Microsoft also started rolling out a new voice call experience on Your Phone to all Windows Insider users who join the Dev Channel. New updates include new images, icons and fonts.
Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22533 also includes many fixes for driver or firmware update issues, application login problems, image import problems, and Windows Explorer crashes.
Microsoft also rolled out a completely redesigned Notepad app for Windows 11 last month.
