iPhone software can be updated without opening the box

After buying a new iPhone, users often have to update the device with new software. For example, the iPhone 15 will have iOS 17 pre-installed when shipped, but when users buy the device, Apple has released new iOS versions, the latest version currently being iOS 17.0.1.

With iOS versions that have many bugs like iOS 17, buying a new iPhone without the latest software inside is quite uncomfortable for users. However, that situation seems to be about to change with Apple's new device.

According to Bloomberg news agency, Apple is developing a new device that can update iPhone software before being sold to users. The new device is designed to resemble a proprietary mattress. When iPhone cases are placed on the device, it can wirelessly turn on the iPhone, update the software, and then power it off. This entire process can take place without even opening the iPhone case.

Apple will equip its retail stores with this new device so that iPhone software can be updated before it is sold to users. As expected, Apple will begin deploying this product to its stores later this year.

Apple has taken a bold and different step to help new iPhone buyers experience the most up-to-date software at the time of receiving the device.

It's unclear whether Apple's shipping partners will be provided with this new device to update iPhone inventory in stores.
