iPhone 17 is accused of being easily scratched, raising concerns about durability despite Apple claiming to have improved it.

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air duo have just been released on shelves and have caused a stir among users in China, especially regarding their durability. Apple promotes that the new generation of iPhones has a refined aluminum finish that is more scratch-resistant. However, actual experience shows the opposite.

Scratches appear after only a few hours of display

At Apple Stores in Shanghai and Hong Kong, many iPhone 17 Pro models in the new blue color quickly appeared scratches and scuffs within hours of customers trying them on. Not only stopping at the Pro line, the super-thin iPhone Air model was also recorded to have the same problem, raising big questions about the real durability of the product.

Bloomberg's Apple expert Mark Gurman has personally observed scratches on display units in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and even London. If this is a widespread problem, it would certainly be a worrying 'minus point' for Apple – a company that prides itself on high-quality build quality. French tech blog Consomac also reported the news and posted photos as proof.

Old problem repeat?

The reason is said to be the anodized aluminum frame of the dark blue iPhone 17 Pro. This is not entirely surprising, as previous years' dark aluminum iPhone models have also encountered similar problems. Perhaps this is the reason Apple did not launch a black version this year.

The topic of iPhones being prone to scratches quickly spread on Weibo, China's largest social network. This is an extremely important market for Apple, which is gradually recovering from a difficult period of sales. In the context of the company has not made significant progress in AI, new design is the key factor to boost sales this year. A durability problem could therefore put Apple under more pressure.

Mark Gurman also said that Apple may have been aware of this problem, so they proactively removed the black version from the list of options. Apple has not yet made any official comments. Users will need to wait for more feedback from the company in the near future.
