Intel launches new laptop platform

Intel has launched a new laptop generation platform, code-named Calpella, at Intel developer forum in Taiwan on October 20-21.

The Calpella platform will rely on Intel's 45nm Nehalem technology. The first generation Nehalem chips, will be quad-core core service chips (quad-core). A series of Nehalem chips, including desktop chips, dual-core, quad-core, eight-core core chips will be released next year, respectively.

Expected, Nehalem chips for laptops will be released in the second quarter of 2009.
