Inspiron Mini 12 - the first netbook with a 12-inch screen
Dell has announced a larger version of the Inspiron Mini 9 computer, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with three options of 40 GB hard drive, 60 GB or 80 GB.
Similar to the two largest screen-equipped netbooks today (10 inches) are Lenovo IdeaPad S10 and MSI Wind, Mini 12 has 3 USB ports, card reader, Ethernet, VGA port and 1.3 megapixel camera.
Mini 12 uses Intel Atom Z520 1.33 GHz or Z530 1.6 GHz processor. The product will be available in November for $ 550 and is one of the few netbooks using the Windows Vista Basic operating system. The version that works on Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux will appear later this year.
Typically, netbooks have an 8-10 inch screen, so experts call the Mini 12 a hybrid device between netbooks and ultraportable laptops.
