IMS Research said that 15 suppliers around the world will sell Android tablets in mid-2011, including Samsung, Acer, Cisco and Dell. These are well-known brands in other fields such as computers, network equipment, etc., but have diverted themselves to this fertile market.

With strong growth, IMS said Android will control 15.2% of the tablet market share in 2011 and increase to 28.4% in 2015. According to daily Nikkei daily newspaper, Samsung expects will sell 1 million Galaxy Tab tablets this year.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab tablet is sold through mobile providers like AT&T in the US. They will contribute to accelerating the presence of Google's Android operating system in the tablet market.

Research firm iSuppli predicts that 15.6 million tablets will be sold this year, of which iPad accounts for 13.8% (the new product appears on the market last April). In the next year, 57.3 million tablets are expected to be shipped and more and more companies are launching products that compete with Apple's iPad. However, these competitors will need to make a difference in design, features, operating systems and especially user-friendly applications.

IMS also stressed that RIM and HP have invested in operating system technology for tablets. Therefore, IMS predicts that next year, 7.8% of shipped tablets will work on operating systems other than Apple's, Android or Windows operating systems today.
