Legend Tokens are an earn-only currency in Apex Legends. You gain them by completing matches and leveling up; you cannot buy them in the Store, receive them from Apex Packs or gift them to another player. The main uses are unlocking Legends, buying eligible recolors for Legendary skins and rerolling Daily Challenges.
If you are new to the game, the Apex Legends beginner weapon guide can help with early matches. If a connection or launcher error prevents progress, use the Apex Legends troubleshooting guide.
How to earn Legend Tokens
Play matches to earn account XP. Reaching player-level milestones awards Legend Tokens, and players can continue earning them through XP progression after reaching the displayed level cap. The current balance is shown near the other currencies in the lobby interface.

There is no separate purchase button or Apex Pack drop for Legend Tokens. If a website or tool claims it can sell or generate them, do not provide account credentials or install its software.
Earn XP efficiently by playing the objective
Legend Tokens come from leveling, so the practical goal is to earn XP through normal matches. XP rewards can include:
- Winning a match or finishing in the top five.
- Eliminating opponents.
- Eliminating members of the champion squad.
- Becoming the champion squad or match kill leader.
- Completing other match activities recognized by the current progression system.

Do not chase one bonus at the expense of the team. Surviving, placing well and taking controlled fights usually creates more reliable progression than repeatedly landing in a crowded area for a quick elimination attempt.
Use Legend Tokens to unlock a Legend
Open the Legends or Store area, choose a locked Legend and review the available currency options. EA currently lists a standard unlock price of 12,000 Legend Tokens or 750 Apex Coins for a new Legend. Confirm the price shown in your game before completing the unlock because store presentation can change.

Spend tokens on a Legend whose abilities and class fit the way you play. The original screenshot shows an early roster; the current game contains more Legends, so do not use the image as a complete character list.
Other uses for Legend Tokens
- Legendary skin recolors: some Store offers let you exchange Legend Tokens for a recolor when the required base skin and offer conditions are met.
- Daily Challenge rerolls: Legend Tokens may be used to replace an eligible Daily Challenge.
Recolors rotate and are not always available. Check the exact requirement before spending, especially when an offer depends on already owning another cosmetic.
Legend Tokens, Apex Coins and Crafting Metals are different
| Currency | How it is obtained | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Legend Tokens | Earned through matches and player-level progression | Legends, eligible recolors and Daily Challenge rerolls |
| Apex Coins | Premium currency acquired through supported purchase or reward routes | Store content and other eligible premium purchases |
| Crafting Metals | Earned through supported in-game reward systems | Crafting eligible cosmetic items |
The currencies are not interchangeable. Opening an Apex Pack does not award Legend Tokens, and buying Apex Coins does not convert them into an earnable token balance.
If the balance looks wrong
- Restart the game and confirm that the account is online.
- Check that the expected player-level increase completed.
- Review recent unlocks or challenge rerolls that may have spent tokens.
- Capture the account level and currency display before contacting EA Help.
For the latest rules, compare the in-game display with the official EA Apex Legends currency guide.
