Simple steps to folding a paper crane.
Step 1: Using a square piece of paper, fold it in half to create a triangle. If you're only using one side of the paper, start with the colored side facing up. Unfold the paper and repeat to create creases as shown in the image below.
Next, flip the paper so the colored side is facing down and fold it in half to form a rectangle. Unfold the paper and repeat to create creases as shown in the image above.
Step 2: Now, fold along all four creases simultaneously to form a square with the open end facing you.
Step 3: Next, fold the two edges inwards to create the kite shape at the top. Then repeat on the other side.
Fold the point down and fold along the remaining two creases. Flip the paper over and repeat the fold as you completed on the other side.
Step 4: Next, pull the bottom corner (only the top layer) up over the top corner. Fold along the creases you created in steps 4 and 5. Repeat on the other side.
Then you will have an image like the one below.
Step 5: Fold the two edges inwards again and repeat on the other side to create the third shape.
Now, fold the two sections upwards. Then fold down the head on one side, bowing your head down to make the crane's beak appear long. Pull the wings straight away from the body to inflate the body.
Compared to folding shapes like east, west, south, and north , or folding paper peach blossoms or boats , you might find folding paper cranes a bit more difficult.
