Differences in welcoming the new year in some Asian countries

Chinese New Year, also known as Xuan Tiet or New Year's calendar, is usually held on the first days of the lunar year, just a few days after the start of Lap Xuan. Usually takes place around January 21 to February 21.

The name of the year is traditionally combined with 10 earth branches and 12 heavenly stems, creating a 60-year cycle and is also known as Six Ten Flowers. Lunar New Year is the most important and biggest event of the year for Chinese people.

Seollal, the traditional Korean New Year, like the Chinese New Year, Seollal is also based on the lunar calendar. On the first day of the lunar year, Koreans wish each other good luck and avoid thinking about bad things. Family members and relatives will sit together to review the events experienced in the past year.

Losar - this is the most important holiday in Tibet and Bhutan, held around February of the solar calendar. Losar is celebrated for 15 days, the main activities taking place in the first three days.

This is a holiday that occurs close to the Chinese New Year and the Mongolian New Year, but the traditions in Losar are unique to Tibet and only existed before receiving influence from India and China.
