Google released Android Things 1.0 for IoT devices
On May 7, Google officially launched Android Things 1.0, the platform works on IoT devices such as smart speakers, Internet-connected security cameras .
Google is committed to providing live and free updates to all products running on Android Things 1.0 within 3 years as well as subsequent expansion policies.
Google's policy on Android Things with the world's most popular mobile operating system is now Android. Despite being present on hundreds of millions of phones globally, the platform is fragmented due to the abundance of equipment ecosystems. When a new update is released, it will be sent to the OEM partner so they can add a custom class of their own before deploying the update to the device. This process takes a lot of time, so the latest Android version is only available on very few active devices, while an update from 2015, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, is still popular on 30% of Android devices. .

Two years ago, Google mentioned Android Things and the test for developers reached more than 100,000 downloads. Google has received feedback from more than 10,000 programmers around the world, which can quickly supplement and adjust the operating system to meet user needs.
Android Things 1.0 supports the new SoM (System-on-Module) system, based on NXP i.MX8M, Qualcomm SDA212, Qualcomm SDA624 and MediaTek MT8516 hardware platforms.
