Google officially gives Bard AI trial: How to get on the waiting list?

Bard - Google's AI chatbot - has been rekindled for a long time. These ingredients were first announced in May 2021 through Google's LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) and included in the company's AI Test Kitchen, first announced at Google I/O 2022.

After that, Bard was initially available to a select number of Pixel Superfans, but it is now also available to users in the US and UK via the waitlist.

Google's Bard AI is available for testing

The day after 9to5Google reported that some Pixel Superfans had been invited to try Bard, Google announced in a post on The Keyword that interested people in the US and UK can join the waitlist and Experience the Bard for yourself. You won't need a Pixel phone or even an Android device to try out Bard - just a web browser.

Before trying out Bard, you should read Google's post on The Keyword for an overview of the utility of AI, including Google's emphasis that they are building the tool responsibly and safely. Honestly, that's just a sweet promise, so if you decide to sign up for the Bard AI waitlist, you need to anticipate all possible risks.

To use Bard, first sign up for the waitlist. You can find the waiting list on the Bard homepage. Just select 'Join waitlist' and sign up via your Google account. When selected to try Bard, you will receive a confirmation email in your inbox.

How is Bard different from the competition?

Bard still has a lot of room for improvement in beta (hence the "experiment" tag next to its name on Google). First, Bard differs from AI competitors like ChatGPT and Bing AI in that it gives you 3 drafts for each prompt, similar to having multiple drafts when using DALL-E to create images from text copy. If you like one version better than another, you can quickly create a new draft group based on that particular draft. It's easy, and that's the bottom line.

If you regularly use AI tools and understand the intricacies between GPT-4 and GPT-3.5, your keen eye will probably notice the differences and areas for improvement. One of the obvious differences as of March 2023 is that Bard is only associated with a Google search instead of a source of information. That needs to change.

Join the waiting list and experience Google AI for yourself!

Google has put a lot of effort into Bard. However, it remains unclear whether the tool will be able to compete with other heavyweights in the end. Will Bard do something truly revolutionary or fade into a mess?
