Detecting the second Moon of the Earth, the diameter is only about 3.5m
Besides the Moon we all know about, astronomers at the Catalina Sky Survey recently discovered a second natural satellite orbiting the Earth.
Besides the Moon we all know about, astronomers at the Catalina Sky Survey recently discovered a second natural satellite orbiting the Earth.
This new second moon is a small asteroid caught up in Earth's orbit. The Earth's temporary moon was discovered last week but due to its size being so small, it is estimated to be only 3.5 meters in diameter, so scientists need more time to study to make sure it doesn't. Must be artificial satellites or space junk.
Astronomers call the second moon orbiting the Earth 2020 CD3. From Earth, we cannot observe the 2020 CD3 with the naked eye because it is so small in size.
The Earth temporarily having a second Moon is a rare phenomenon but 14 years ago, the same phenomenon happened. The connection between the Earth and the Moon temporarily is not forever. Within 2 months, the Second Moon will say goodbye to the Earth and continue its "journey of space exploration".
