Security firm Wandera has discovered 17 apps on the Apple App Store that contain malware trojan designed to open websites or open ads that run in the background without the user's knowledge.

All of these applications were developed by a company based in India called AppAspect Technologies Pvt. Ltd. They use a C&C server (Command & Control), put the backdoor into an application to serve ads, send commands and payloads.

AppAspect Technologies Pvt. Ltd has a total of 51 apps on the Apple App Store, of which 35 are free. 17 of those 35 applications contain clicker trojan modules. They belong to many different categories such as utilities, business, travel .

Currently, Apple has removed 15 of the 17 applications after receiving Wandera's report. The other two applications are My Train Info - IRCTC & PNR and Easy Contact Backup Manager.

Previously, some applications of AppAspect Technologies on Google Play were also removed due to malware. Those applications were re-released after malware was removed.
