With a few steps set up on Apple TV, you can project content such as photos, videos, music and even some content applications from iOS devices such as iPhone, iPod or iPad onto the HDTV screen.
Most apps on Apple's App Store are now compatible with AirPlay standards, such as Vevo, TED, Hulu Plus and PBS that allow you to stream videos from your iOS device to Apple TV. Some iOS games also support AirPlay connectivity, allowing you to use iOS devices to control gaming on the TV screen. Sometimes there is a 'lag' condition and the video quality is not good.
A less expensive and equally portable solution is to use Apple's digital AV adapter. These transducers have a head to attach to the Apple device, the other end is HDMI to attach directly to the TV or AV receiver.

There are usually two versions of this port on the market that are Apple 's 30 - foot connectors compatible with older iOS devices, and Lightning ports on newer devices such as iPhone 5, 5S, and 5C or other devices. New iPad and iPod models launched. Both versions have the same function but the video quality seems a bit different. After connecting, the Lightning port-type transducer will project everything you see on your device to the large screen of the TV (mirroring).
According to some practical tests of technology forums, the Lightning switch does not actually provide a raw HDMI signal, but instead the processor chip inside the adapter will compress the video signal before sending it to the TV. Therefore, the video image looks good but does not achieve true 1080p resolution.
Meanwhile, the AV adapter using Apple's 30-pin port only provides normal picture quality. Users of iOS devices with this old type port can only use this player to view photo slideshows, integrated videos and compatible video applications. In contrast, they cannot listen to music and watch with applications that do not support video export.

For older TV models without HDMI ports, you must use a Composite AV cable solution to connect your iOS device to the TV. This cable does not have mirroring function to transmit all the content on the device to the TV, but it will show images, music and video applications to old TV. The cable is only compatible with devices that use the old connector base type. Do not expect this cable to provide HD content as it only supports up to 480i resolution video output.
Owning a smart TV from Samsung, you can also connect iPhone to Samsung TV quickly via Samsung Smart View application for iPhone.
