Claude is making an impressive comeback in 2026. The Claude app on iOS has just risen to number one in the US and is in the top 10 productivity apps in over 100 countries.
To capitalize on this growth and attract more free users, Claude has brought its AI memory feature – previously only available on the paid plan – to the free plan. Users can now have Claude reference previous conversations to provide more contextually relevant responses.
How does the 'memory' feature make the chat experience different?

Users can import chat history from other chatbots into Claude without requiring that platform to officially support data export. Claude provides a ready-made prompt to import into the current chatbot, consolidating the entire chat history into a single conversation. Users then simply copy the response and import it into Claude.
According to Anthropic, the memory synchronization process can take up to 24 hours.
This method is said to be compatible with most popular chatbots currently available, including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot.
