Cheap laptops attract customers

In recent months, laptop prices have dropped rapidly, so even though the economy is difficult, many users are not afraid to hang laptop bags. Segment of 9-13 million dong is attracting products with competition from many models .

Surveying prices at many supermarkets and computer stores, we found that the price level is currently lower than the previous two months.

VND 9-13 million: expensive

Currently with only about 10.5 million dong, customers can own a laptop using Core2Duo processor with attractive promotion. While two months ago, customers had to spend over 11 million dong. Laptop models are sold quite diverse and richer for office and study needs.

Dell has Vostro model AVN 1014n (using Core2Duo processor, 160GB hard drive, 1GB RAM) for less than 10.5 million dong. Acer has Aspire 4736, Aspire 5738 and Extensa 4630 models (using Core2Duo T6600 2.2GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 250-320GB hard drive, 14.1-inch or 15.6-inch screen) priced under VND11 million .

Asus has K40IJ (using Core2Duo T5870 2GHz chip, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, 14-inch HD screen) for VND10.1 million. HP seems to be more expensive in this price segment despite the lower configuration, the Presario CQ35 (Pentium Dual Core T4200 2.0GHz chip, 2GB RAM, 160GB hard drive) priced at VND10.1 million. The advantage of this model is the compact screen of only 13.3 inches, but the weight still weighs 2.35kg.

With a higher amount, about 12-13 million VND, users have a lot of choices between different models and brands. The familiar brands such as Dell, Asus, Acer, Lenovo . have many models with many configurations for users to easily choose. In general, the machine configuration in this price segment uses Core2Duo processor speed from 2.0GHz, RAM from 2GB, average hard drive 250GB, 12.1-15.6 inch screen.

Mr. Dinh Anh Huan, business director of The Gioi Di Dong Company, said: ' Two months ago, there could not be a laptop line configured to meet the needs of work and entertainment for only 6-7 million dong. Currently we have about five best-selling laptops, of which Acer emachines has the lowest price of VND 6-7 million, the highest line is VND 12-13 million. The lower prices of this price segment are not available, but higher is very difficult to sell . '

Netbook: weak sale

Small and weak is a common judgment of both sellers and buyers of netbooks. Many netbooks are being sold such as Toshiba, Acer, Dell, Asus, MSI . cost less than 10 million but still not many users choose.

Most netbooks on the market use the 1.6GHz Intel Atom N280 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. The biggest advantage of netbooks is still stylish, compact, lightweight, convenient for mobile. However, the processing speed is slow, the screen is a bit small, which can be uncomfortable for users if they have to work long hours in a row.

Meanwhile, the current popular laptops have a strong configuration but are designed to be more compact (the screen is reduced to 12.1 inches, not integrated optical drive) to reduce weight and size, convenient good for moving. The ever-smaller trend of laptops is putting more pressure on low-profile netbooks, but they always have to be small, compact and cheap.

Mr. Tran Viet Quan, director of Computer Science Company, analyzed: ' Users have to buy a second netbook, but if it is the first or only one, few people choose netbooks. Wealthy users will easily choose additional netbooks for their work . '

Mr. Dinh Anh Huan said: ' Demand for netbooks in Vietnam is not much. A year ago, netbooks have been around for a while but are now almost impossible to sell. We only imported about a few dozen cars '.
