3 Ways to Use Claude Code for Non-Coding Work

Use Claude Code to prepare presentations, find information across approved sources and draft sales materials, with practical prompts and review checkpoints.

Claude Code can help with non-coding work when the task involves files, repeatable steps or connected tools. Three useful examples are preparing a presentation, finding information across approved sources and drafting sales materials. Its access and output depend on the tools, files and permissions available in your environment.

For a simple paragraph rewrite, an ordinary chat may be sufficient. Claude Code becomes more useful when it can inspect relevant materials, create a deliverable and help check the result. Set up a dedicated work folder with copies of the necessary files before starting.

1. Prepare a presentation from approved materials

Give Claude Code the audience, presentation goal, source documents, target length and design constraints. Ask for an outline first so that you can correct the argument before it creates the slides.

Using the supplied project brief and approved figures, propose an eight-slide customer presentation. Identify the purpose of each slide, the evidence it needs and any missing information. Use the brand guide for colors. Do not invent metrics or customer quotes.

After reviewing the outline, specify the deliverable format. LaTeX with Beamer can produce PDF slides if the required tools are installed, but a PDF is not the same as an editable PowerPoint file. If you need PPTX, say so and confirm that the available workflow can create it.

Provide one or two suitable reference decks instead of exposing an entire archive. Keep source files and the generated output separate. Open the final deck in its intended viewer and check text overflow, chart labels, image placement, links and speaker notes. Generating the file successfully does not establish that the slides look correct.

2. Find evidence across connected sources

Claude Code can use configured integrations to retrieve information, but it does not automatically have access to your email, Slack, Notion or Drive. Each source needs an available connection and the appropriate account permissions. Anthropic documents the connection options in its Claude Code MCP guide.

Search the approved project sources for the decision about the launch date. Use material from the specified project and date range. Return the decision, its author and date, a source link, and any later message that changes it. If a source cannot be searched, say so.

Use names, date ranges and project identifiers to narrow the request. Check the original messages when a decision matters. An older proposal, a quoted message and a final approval should not be treated as interchangeable evidence.

Start with read access. Keep retrieved content separate from instructions governing the agent, and do not let a message or document authorize an unrelated action. This overview of AI workspace platforms can help compare connected-search workflows before you invest in integrations.

3. Prepare sales work for review

Use an approved customer profile and documented product information to organize a supplied prospect list or draft outreach. The useful task is preparing evidence-based material, not inventing personal details or assuming that an AI-generated lead is accurate.

Review this approved prospect list against the attached customer criteria. Mark each criterion as supported, unsupported or unknown, with its source. Draft a short outreach message for the supported matches. Do not send messages or update the CRM.

Check company names, roles, contact details and every personalized claim. Keep uncertain information out of the message. If a later step updates a CRM, preview the exact records and fields, match against stable record identifiers, preserve existing data and review the change log afterward.

Sending outreach and changing customer records are separate actions that require suitable authorization and organizational controls. A local sales folder alone does not give Claude Code access to those systems. For broader options, see AI tools for business workflows.

Keep the workflow controlled

Review Claude Code's permission settings before enabling file edits, commands or connected tools. Provide only the data needed for the task, and keep credentials out of prompts and shared files.

For each deliverable, ask what was created, which sources were used, what was checked and what remains uncertain. Measure the total time including setup and review; a fast draft is useful only if the final result meets the required standard.
