Why does iOS 14 become Apple's smartest software of all time?
We have repeated this many times before, but there is a truth to say that for any future iPhone device: iOS 14 owns the fastest processor, the best camera and few most of a unique feature that no iPhone can own.
This is true at this time as well as until 2020. But now is the time to add other features to the list: iOS 14's intelligence.
As with current processing capabilities and high quality optical systems, machine learning, artificial intelligence and personalization will be of paramount importance for iPhones and iOS in the future.
So, according to reports, Apple is designing a new iPhone chip specifically for AI. This not only helps promote future advances, but also fits Apple's priority to keep the AI personalization features on the device to protect user privacy.
Siri the smartest
A clear outlet for the ability to handle AI is Siri - has long won all "enthusiasm" of Apple. With iOS 14, Siri is not only the smartest and most powerful 'virtual assistant', it also plays a key role on Apple's entire operating system.
The introduction of "Type to Siri" in iOS 11 - now set of accessibility - shows that Apple is laying the groundwork for text-based Siri interactions. This can be done through dedicated channels in Messages (like Google Assistant) or (less likely) via dedicated Siri application.
Instead of just asking Siri to send reminders, you can send support pictures or text notes about things you want to track. Siri can even use this channel to actively send the information you need based on what's known about you and information from Apple's original apps like Maps, Mail and Calendar.
Just like Google can send you notifications when you leave the office based on traffic, Siri can remind you of your day events based on data from Apple apps. In addition to calendar announcements, it also sends reminders about Mail (reply to messages from VIP contacts), Photos (don't forget to share the photo of last weekend party with your friends!), And press Daily wake up (Siri can automatically On or Off based on your calendar).
In this way, it's easy to see Siri transforming like that from a sometimes useful 'assistant' into a super smart assistant manager in almost every aspect of phone use.
Everything is personalized
Siri is not the only way to make future versions of iOS become smarter. Artificial intelligence will penetrate the entire system in ways that even simple tasks will achieve new levels of personalization.
Spotlight Search offers four or eight "Siri App Suggestions" based on your recent habits (again, the fact that this feature, even now, will be named Siri). But this feature is just the beginning of what Apple really wants to plan.
With iOS 14, instead of just introducing Spotlight Search, iOS will play a more active role in determining which applications and actions should be prioritized at any time.
This will change the majority of the device's main screen. Instead of manually selecting a range of applications, iOS will automatically place some applications in advance based on your usage needs at that time.
Similarly, certain settings on the phone can automatically change (if you choose) based on the location and what you are doing. An early sign of it is Apple's new Do Not Disturb While Driving feature on iOS 11. But what if iOS can automatically switch to Do Not Disturb when you enter the office, switch to silent mode? quiet when you go to the cinema or mute the notification at certain times of the day without having to touch?
This level of personalization extends beyond the main screen. Many of Apple's own applications - Phone, Mail, Messages, Maps - will recognize the context. Open the phone application and you will see some contacts suggested based on your previous habits. Start a new message in Mail or Messages and see the list of proposed recipients.
Apple allows disabling proposed applications in Siri's suggestions on each application, you can disable many of the features in these features. This will increase user privacy.
Besides Apple's own apps, its smart suggestions will also be expanded on Share Share. Regardless of what you are sharing - images, links or videos - Share Sheet will suggest applications based on your previous behavior.
What about developers?
Exactly these changes really don't mean much to developers. Apple may continue to open Siri for many developers and unlock more assistant capabilities for third parties.
With iOS 14, third-party developers no longer feel threatened by Apple's request that only certain developers with certain types of applications be able to access Siri via SiriKit . Instead, this framework helps Siri and third-party developers integrate more flexibly.
However, it is not certain that Apple will provide a large amount of personal data available to developers. Don't think Siri's new magic power will work well with non-Apple applications, except when Apple doesn't have a competitive service.
Siri can read the calendar, discover the next appointment and activate the car call service, but don't expect much if all your appointments are on Google Calendar or another competitive service.
On other parts of iOS, Apple will improve third-party applications in Messages. Instead of inconvenient and unpopular messaging apps like this day, developers will create application integration that can do more than send a sticker or photo.
AI and future
Predicting the three-year improvement in software is always more difficult than hardware. It's easy to draw a straight line between chipset generations rather than predicting future AI changes or software features that can't even be imagined.
However, it is clear that for anyone who just needs to pay a little attention to the technology industry, it is well known that Machine learning advances and artificial intelligence are factors that promote software development In the future, like the increase in computing power has lasted many years.
And although you can easily see some positive changes or risks in security issues, it is undeniable that these changes and even other things have not begun to think about, are happening faster than we thought.
It's only 3 years until 2020, but iOS 14 is still ahead with the speed of light compared to anything we've seen.
