What is the TOEFL certificate?

1. Basic information about TOEFL
TOEFL stands for Test Of English as a Foreign Language, the test of international English proficiency of ETS (American Educational Testing Institute). The test consists of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, and assessing one's American English comprehension and use skills. TOEFL scores are used to assess and qualify foreign students studying in US universities and colleges. Some government agencies, businesses, or study abroad programs also require a certificate for study abroad or promotion.
The TOEFL test was first held in 1964 and the TOEFL test is valid for 2 years. Currently, the TOEFL test takes 4 hours, has 4 parts and has 3 different formats.
1. TOEFL on the Internet (iBT)
The TOEFL iBT test was introduced in late 2005, moving the exam from ETS to test centers via WiFi. So far TOEFL iBT format has been held in many different countries.
Reading test
There are long and short readings. For the long test format, you need to answer the questions about 4 readings in North America within 80 minutes. There will be 1 in 4 items without passing a score but the contestant does not know. The short form exam has questions about 3 readings of 700-750 words in 60 minutes. Competitors are allowed to change answers to the previous questions.
Listening test
There is a maximum of 50 sentences and lasts for 90 minutes. The listening test has 6 paragraphs in about 5 minutes, there are questions about what the paragraph is heard. 6 passages including 2 student dialogues and 4 discussion pieces and only heard once Each conversation has 6 questions. Competitors cannot change the answer to the previous question.
Speaking test
The first two tests (Independent Task) talk about familiar topics to assess the ability to convey content, the first one will have a given question, the second one asks to give your opinion on a certain issue. . Talk time is 45 seconds and 15 seconds.
The next 4 talks are in integrated format (Integrated Task). Lessons 3 and 4 will give a short reading and listen to a conversation, or a lecture and will answer based on the information heard.
Lesson 5 and 6 will have a conversation or a lecture and give an answer. These oral exams will be based on school life or lecture notes. These 4 papers are relatively airy for the candidate.
Competitors have 60 seconds to speak and 30 seconds to prepare.
Written test
The first test is prepared with a paragraph and listened to more lectures and then clearly presents the information you hear. The test takes 20 minutes total and takes a minimum of about 230 words
The first test is harder than writing on a social topic in 30 minutes, with a minimum of 350 words.
2. TOEFL on computers (CBT)
The test was organized in 2006, with 4 sections of listening, grammar structure, reading and writing. The test time is up to 4 hours and the maximum score is 300.
- Listening within 70 minutes is the dialogue between many people together. Frequently asked questions about who is speaking, what the topic is and where.
- Grammar section for up to 20 minutes, find the mistake in the sentence and fill in the blanks.
- The reading section is up to 90 minutes, answering questions related to the given passages.

3. TOEFL on paper (PBT)
This is a traditional exam format, using a pencil to circle the answer. The test takes 3 hours and there are also 4 parts: listening, grammar structure, reading and writing. The number of questions is greater and the evaluation scale is also wider.
Most TOEFL test centers will choose the TOEFL iBT test format.
2. TOEFL assessment scale
The total score for a TOEFL test is 120 points. Inside:
- Listening test: A maximum of 30 points, from 22-30 to be proficient, from 15-21 to be assessed average and 0-14 to be weak.
- The test says: A total score of 30, from 26-30 evaluates well, 18-25 is under constraint and 0-14 is weak.
- Reading test: A total of 30 points, between 22-30 in proficiency, 15-21 in medium and 0-14 in weak form.
- Written test: A total of 30 points, from 24-30 on the good side, 17-21 on the good and 1-16 on the weak.
