Twitter allows you to follow 'Topics'
Twitter is launching a new feature called Topics. As the name suggests, these are topics you can follow to see tweets with related content. This can help you see tweets that you and the people with similar interests are interested in.
Problem with following people on Twitter
Twitter is not the most easily understood social networking platform. A lot of people sign up for an account, and then don't know what to do next. The obvious answer is to follow people and hope they follow you, but individuals talk about countless different subjects.
You can follow a football player just to see them tweeting about political issues or follow a comedian just to see them tweeting about their upcoming tour. The solution to this problem is that you can forget about specific objects and instead follow the topics. That's why Twitter has launched Topics.
Twitter introduces topics for you to follow
Twitter explains how Topics works on the Twitter Blog. In a nutshell, Topics will be the specific interests you follow, the same way you follow people. With just a single tap, you will be able to see the most interesting and relevant tweets about what you care about.
When you follow a topic, you will see tweets about that issue from different people. These can be professionals, fans or just tweets on that topic a lot. The problem is that you don't have to follow them like you follow people.
Twitter will suggest topics based on your activity on the platform. So if you follow a lot of accounts related to Major League Soccer, Twitter is likely to suggest it's a topic. These suggestions will appear in the timeline and in search in the coming months.
Topics are being rolled out on Twitter right now, with 300 topics available at launch, including sports, entertainment and gaming interests, but Twitter may add more over time. . If you see a topic you are interested in, just click to follow it.
People have complained that it is difficult to start using Twitter. New topics will help both new and returning users find interesting people and tweets to follow. And if it's still not successful, check out Quantrimang.com 's guide on how to use Twitter for new users.
