There are only 25,000 mornings in life, here are 8 ways to not waste another day
Let's find out what the author of " Transform Your Habits - " says about how you're using your morning time!
James Clear writes about the effect of using science to build good habits and improve one's health. The free guide " Transform Your Habits - Change Your Habits " has over 80,000 downloads. The following article is quoted in James Clear's book.
Each of us will have about 25,000 mornings in our lifetime, maybe a little more or less.
According to a report from the World Health Organization - WHO, the average life expectancy in the US is 79 years. Many people living in developed countries can reach an average life expectancy of 80. Among them, Japanese women rank first in this ranking with an average life expectancy of 86 years.
If we use this average life expectancy and assume that the life of an adult begins at 18 years of age, each person will have a total of 68 years as an adult ( 86-18 = 68 ). Actually, maybe a little less than the average or a bit more if you're lucky.
(68 years for adults) x (365 days / year) = 24,820 days.
That means: each person has nearly 25,000 morning waking up in his life.
That's what you get in your adult years: 25,000 open eyes wake up, face that day and decide what to do next. I don't know how you are but I myself missed a lot of those precious mornings! As soon as I realized this, I began to think about how to build good habits in the morning. I still have to learn more but personally, below is a strategy to get the most effective morning to not waste any more days. Invite you to consult!
1. Control the energy source, not the time
If you spend some time thinking about this, you will probably realize that you should do a certain task at a set time. For example, my creative energy source is most effective every morning; So, this is exactly the time I spend writing articles every day.
Likewise, I often sketch out what I need to do in the afternoon like interviews, phone calls, and answering emails. I do not need to use too much creative energy for those jobs, so the afternoon is the best time to complete these tasks. Also, I tend to exercise most effectively at the end of the afternoon, so I often go to the gym around this time.
Think about which energy source helps you get the most out of it every morning? And what works best for that kind of energy?
2. Plan from the previous night
I almost don't do this on a regular basis, which I should have done. However, if I only do one thing every day, it is essential to spend a few minutes each night to create a list of things to do for tomorrow! To do this regularly and seriously, I will prepare a list of what I will do for the next day and expand a shorter list of important urgent things that need to be completed as soon as possible. Sure, you will only take about 10 minutes every night but this will save you three hours for the next day.
3. Do not open mail until noon
This sounds easy but not many people can do it. Because it took me a while to get past the " temptation " when I didn't open the inbox in the morning, but I finally realized that it wouldn't matter if I waited a few hours before check email. Surely no one will email you in an emergency (motorbike accident, death .), so " leave it alone " for a few hours at the first time during the day. Use the morning time to make the most important thing instead of immediately opening the mail and replying to the inbox.
4. Turn off the phone and leave it elsewhere
Or you can leave your phone on your colleague's desk, at least outside your vision. This will limit the habit of regularly checking messages, Facebook, Twitter and similar distractions. This simple strategy will reduce the probability of distraction while working - where you waste time and concentration for nonsense.
5. Work in a cool place
Have you ever felt your head hurt and languid when working in a very hot room? Lowering your temperature or finding a cool place is the easiest way to focus your mind and body for work. Park, garden coffee, riverbank or simply a spacious room with large windows.
6. Sit up straight or stand up
The brain needs oxygen to work effectively and the lungs also need to contract to recharge the oxygen needed for the body. This may sound simple but this is the problem: many people have a habit of stooping when looking at a computer or typing. When sitting in a bent position, your chest will be in a curvature position and your diaphragm will rest against your lungs easily, preventing your lungs from breathing. Sitting up straight or standing up will help you breathe more easily. Thus, the brain absorbs a lot of oxygen and that will help you focus better.
( Hint: When I sit at work, I usually put a small pillow behind my back. This helps prevent my lower back from curving and helps me to sit in a more straight position ).
7. Eat as a reward after hard work
I often practice vegetarianism intermittently, meaning I eat breakfast at noon every day. I have formed this habit for almost two years and have realized that there are many health benefits that I have explained in detail in the previous articles. But that is only a small part of the panorama. I myself am vegetarian because it allows me to do more things during the day. Take some time to think about how much time each person has to spend thinking about what to eat, prepare and cook meals daily.
By taking a vegetarian diet, I didn't need to spend much time calculating, brain-racking about what to eat for breakfast, how to cook and how to clean up. Instead, I use the morning to do things that I think are important. After that, I will reward myself for a hearty meal after working hard.
8. The power of good habits
I started the morning with a cool glass of water. Some others start a new day with 10 minutes of meditation.
Similarly, you should have a habit to start the day in a clear sequence. A small daily routine signals your brain that it is time to work, exercise or anything to do your job. In addition, a daily routine helps you overcome the feeling of lack of motivation and accomplishment of work even when you feel uninterested in it.
Rarely anyone can succeed overnight and rarely anyone collapses in a moment. There are many ineffective, unhealthy habits that result in delays and gradually creating bad habits. A wasteful morning of today or an unproductive morning tomorrow is the result of creating bad habits throughout life.
But the good news for you is that we will have an effective morning if we choose the daily work order in a sequential way. Nothing is more appropriate than a good morning routine. The way you start the day is the same way you end it.
Get the famous Americanbodybuilder - Jack LaLanne, one Fitness nutritionist and nicknamed " father of bodybuilding " isan example.Everyday, Jack LaLanne wakes up at 4 am and exercises in 90 minutes. After that, he practiced swimming or running the next 30 minutes. For more than 60 years, Jack LaLanne made this habit regularly every morning. Moreover, in order to become one of those who inspire fitness, he continues to maintain this habit even when he turns 96.
Nothing is a coincidence! What you do in the early morning is the guideline for how you use your new day. It will be a choice that we repeat every day to decide a useful life, abundant health and full happiness.
So there are 25,000 mornings in your life, what will you do when you wake up?
