In 2011, Andrés Ruzo, a geologist at Southern Methodist University in the United States, wrapped himself in the forest to search for the legendary river of boiling water, still spoken by indigenous people. Finally, he found this strange river in 2016 at the Asháninka spiritual therapy area in Mayantuyacu in Peru.
The river is called Shanay-timpishka , which in the native language means " boiled by the sun ." Shanay-timpishka is about 6km long, 6m deep, about 25m wide. The sinuses and lungs also feel burning.
The highest temperature measured in this river section is 100 degrees Celsius, while the super hot coffee cup we still drink is only about 55 degrees. If you dip your hand in the water in just a few seconds, you may have a level 2 or 3 burn.
The bad frog fell into the river.
Like many other scientists, Ruzo initially did not believe in the existence of this river until witnessing it with his own eyes. He believed that a huge amount of geothermal heat would be needed to make the river boil so hotly that the Amazon Delta region did not have any volcanoes nearby.
The river water is always boiling at 100 degrees C.
Explaining the cause of the existence of the river, Ruzo said that hidden deep in the bottom of the river there are cracks flowing out of the hot water. This is also the reason for the formation of hot springs, gas-spraying heat holes on Earth.
If you dip your hand in the water, you may have a level 2 or 3 burn after only a few seconds.
