Like other lunar eclipses, the half-moon eclipse occurs only when the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon. Meanwhile, the Earth will block part of the sunlight from reaching the Moon. The obscured part will become dark, called the midnight area, the rest will still shine as usual. This phenomenon only makes the Moon a little dimmer, so it is difficult to observe and easily confused with the normal full moon.
The area of the half-moon eclipse observed in 2017 includes: Europe, Africa, most of Asia, most of North America. In Vietnam, a part of this phenomenon can be observed in the early morning of February 11.

This astronomical phenomenon occurs when the Earth is near the Sun and away from the Moon in orbit. Then, the Moon cannot cover the Sun, a bright ring will appear around the dark part of the Moon at the maximum eclipse.
People in the South Pacific, South America, southwest of Africa are fortunate to observe this unique annular eclipse.

April 7 Jupiter will be closer to the Moon, so it will be fully illuminated by the Sun. It will reflect the sun's maximum light so it will reach the maximum brightness of the year and be visible throughout the night in the sky. From Earth, humans can observe and photograph Jupiter and its moons.

The meteorological density of this meteor shower can be up to 60 tracks / hour. The crescent moon in early May may not make meteor clear but there are still bright star streaks after midnight.
The Eta Quarid meteor shower is made up of dust particles of the famous Halley comet named after British astronomer Edmund Halley.
This meteor shower is of medium density and is a remnant of remnants of Marsden and Kracht comets.
This year, the Delta Aquarids meteor shower appeared from mid-July until late August but will only peak on the night of July 28, morning 29/7 with approximately 20 tracks per hour.

When the Moon passes through the dark half of the Earth, only a portion of the Moon passes through the dark area completely obstructing a small area at the edge and part of the Moon's surface is darker than normal.
Most of southern and eastern Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia will observe this astronomical phenomenon. In Vietnam, astronomers can fully observe it on August 7 with their naked eyes without using any other tools.

This is one of the two largest meteor showers in 2017, which can reach a density of 60 tracks / hour at its peak. The Perseid meteor shower often takes place in August every year, and is made up of the comet Swift-Tutte discovered in 1862.
In Vietnam, viewers only need to observe with the naked eye without binoculars, telescopes, . Head to the east of the sky, find the constellation Perseus to observe the center of this meteor shower.

The total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon completely obscures the Sun and reveals a beautiful outer atmosphere called a corona. This year, this phenomenon can only be seen from the East Coast to the US West Coast. This is an amazing astronomical phenomenon, rare in the US since 1979.
In Vietnam, astronomers cannot observe this special phenomenon.

This is an extremely rare astronomical event. Jupiter and Venus are the two brightest planets in the night sky that will come very close together in the early morning sky on November 13 when dawn is not up.
If viewed from Earth, the two planets will almost touch each other because they are only 0.3 degrees apart in the sky. To observe this rare phenomenon, we only need to use binoculars and turn east of the sky before the sun rises early in the morning.

The Moon will be larger, brighter than usual because it is closer to Earth. This is the only Super Moon that takes place in 2017 and is called the Long Night Moon or Moon before Christmas.

This is the biggest, most beautiful meteor shower in 2017. Meteor shower Geminids can create 120 streaks / hour when peaking. These meteorite traces originate from 3200 Phaethon asteroids.
To observe this meteor shower, viewers only need to look to the east, the position of Gemini - Gemini.
