Supply is scarce, Apple only allows users to buy up to 2 iPhones, iPads at the same time
Starting this week, Apple will limit the number of iPhones, iPad Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini that each user can order on its online store. Restricted policies are applied in many Asian countries, including Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and China.
Specifically from March 18, each person can only buy up to two iPhones in one order but must be two different models. For the new MacBook Air and Mac mini, the number of devices that each customer can buy is 5. Meanwhile, the new iPad Pro has a maximum limit of 2 units for both 12.9 inch and 11 inch models.
The move shows that Apple is facing a shortage of supply due to the influence of COVID-19. After the initial outbreaks, the Chinese government had to close a series of factories in the country and Apple was one of the companies most affected.
At the moment, the iPhone assembly partners have reopened the factory and re-operated, but the speed of production line recovery is still much slower than expected. Therefore, in the context of tight supply because of COVID-19, Apple had to change the policy and limit the maximum number of products per customer.
Of course, this is not the first time Apple has imposed purchase restrictions on its products in Asia. Previously, the company did the same thing after launching the first iPhone in 2007. "In some cases, Apple may have to limit the number of products users can buy. so we are still trying to increase production as quickly as possible " - Apple said.
