Apple may fix the iPhone 4S, MacBook Air and older devices
Perhaps a correct move.
With older devices, Apple supports software very well. But when it comes to repairs, their reputation is not very positive.
The 9to5Mac newspaper reported, it seems that this Cupertino-based company wants to restart Repair Vintage Apple Products. This new program will support a small portion of Apple devices that are about to become obsolete, including iPhone 5 (including GSM and CDMA versions).
This is the initial list of devices that the new Apple program supports:
- MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2012)
- MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012)
- iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) - USA and Turkey
- iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) - USA and Turkey
Some older iPhones and MacBooks will be repaired by Apple
Later, Apple will add older machines to this Repair Vintage Apple Products program.According to the 9to5Mac sheet, the following devices will be added:
- iPhone 4S - November 30, 2018
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012) - November 30, 2018
- MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012) - December 30, 2018
- MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013) - December 30, 2018
- MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) - December 30, 2018
- Mac Pro (Mid 2012) - December 30, 2018
You can fix the above devices at the Apple Store or authorized service providers around the world.
If this is true, then it will be a sudden change compared to Apple's habit of restraining old clothes.
