This spider was first discovered in Madagascar (USA) in 2009. The female spider has a long body size of about 1.8 - 2.2cm, the male is much smaller than the female.
To create a giant 25m-long network, the female spider shot a strand stretching continuously from one side of the river and 'by' the wind carried them across the river. When a special 'bridge' is formed, the spider will create a spiral-shaped circular web of up to 3 meters in diameter. It is the 'trap' of Darwin's spider plant to catch prey flying on water like dragonflies, fleets, and other insects.
The silk of Darwin's spider species is extremely tough, though fragile, but it is 10 times stronger than the synthetic material used to make bulletproof vests - Kevlar.
