Thumbprint SHA1 certificate must represent the trusted .rdp file publishing address. To get thumbprint certificates, open the snap-in certificates, double-click the certificate you want to use (or in the local computer certificate store, as well as in your personal certificate store. ), click the details tab, and then in the Field list, click the thumbprint.
( Note: When you copy the thumbprint to use with rdpsign.exe tool, you must delete all spaces).
You must specify the .rdp file (or .rdp files) to sign using the full names of the files.
The signed output files overwrite the input files.
In the case of multiple files specified, if an .rdp file cannot be read or written, the tool will ignore the file and continue to the next file.
Example command rdpsign:
To sign a .rdp file named File1.rdp, navigate to the folder where you saved the .rdp file, and then type the following:
rdpsign / sha1 hash file1.rdp
( Note: hash function values representing thumbprint SHA1 certificate will not contain any spaces).
To check whether digital signing succeeded for the .rdp file, enter the following:
rdpsign / sha1 hash / l file1.rdp
To proceed with signing multiple .rdp files, use spaces to separate filenames. For example: To sign multiple files .rdp named File1.rdp, File2.rdp and File3.rdp, enter the following:
rdpsign / sha1 hash file1.rdp file2.rdp file3.rdp
